Gone Riding, Inc. was founded in 1993 by David and Terri Berger. Our original goal was to bring a
high standard of organization and promotion to the sport of cycling in Florida, we have since expanded that goal to include all of the
South Eastern States. We primarily specialize in off road or mountain
bike cross country and endurance events but we also organize and promote
bicycle road racing, motocross, hare scrambles, duathlon
and triathlon events. We have been NORBA (National Off
Road Bicycle Association, now USAC-MTB) sanctioned since our first race in 1993 and have had
the honor of hosting the Nation's first AMBC (American Mountain Bike Challenge)
in Ocala, Florida
in 1996 as well as the AMBC National Finals in 1997. By the end of
the 2010 we will have promoted over four hundred events in an eighteen year
period, which include many series and special events. We are fortunate in
Florida and
in the South East to have the opportunity to race and ride year round and
because of this we have been able to promote races and series events starting
in January and ending in December. These events include the South Florida
Championship series, the Spring Challenge, the 12 hours of Razorback, the 13
hours of Santos,
the 8 hours of labor, the Florida State Championship series and the South
Eastern Regional Championship series. (See our events page for a complete
list). Our goals are to continue to grow the sport of cycling in
our region and to continue to improve and maintain our high standards of cycling
organization and promotion. We would like to thank all of the riders,
racers, enthusiasts, families, support people, bike shops, volunteers, land
owners, park management teams, our sanctioning body, our web provider and last
but not least sponsors for allowing us to continue on this fulfilling and
successful journey.
