Ready to Run at the 12 Hours of Santos
2012 12 Hours of Santos - Vortex Trails, Ocala, FL 2-18-2012: Highly educated and well paid weather forcasters simply got it wrong, the weather for this years endurance race at Santos was awesome and the trails were in perfect shape, despite the predictions for rain and storms. The day kicked off with a special 12 minutes of Santos kids race which had a good turnout and the kids were burning up the course during the short but intense competition. About 450 racers took to the very challenging course this year and the competition level was red hot in all of the classes. Many thanks to all of the events sponsors and to Club OMBA for building, maintaing, marshalling and prepping the 8.9 mile course. Top Male Solo 12 hour racer was Freddy Viera, top Female was Holly Horner. In the team categories, AJ's Grumpy Pickles took the top 4 person slot and the overall, while Top Gear Bicycles was best of the 2 person teams. Victor Alber was the winner in the 6 hour Elite class. The Juniors hit the podium at Hialeah

2011-2012 Coconut Cup South Florida Championship series #5 - Amelia Earheart Park, Hialeah, FL 2-4/5-2012: Wow, perfect weather again, temperatures were in the low seventies with a friendly cloud cover overhead. The 6.5 mile trail was in great shape thanks to the outstanding trail crew at the park and as always the course was fun and challenging with the direction running in reverse of the last round. On Saturday there was a special bonus point Individual Time Trial ran on a shorter and faster course, the top rider was Robert McCarty with a time of 12:42 top female racer in the ITT was Duffy Danish with a time of 16:06. RB Cycles handed out the goodies (over $2000 worth) to the racers, many thanks to them and all of the series sponsors! Top male racer on Sunday was Robert McCarty (City Bikes / McCartytraining.com) and Jennifer Moos (Big Wheel Bicycles) took the top female honors.
