12 Hours of Tsali racers get ready to rock!
2012 12 Hours of Tsali - Tsali Recreation Area Trails, Bryson City, NC 5-19-2012: Awesome conditions (with the exception of a few laps due to a short rain) for the 8th annual running of this classic endurance race. The day started with nearly 300 racers running up to grab thier bikes (a quarter mile away) and then take off for the 11.5 mile loop around the right loop of Tsali. The competition seemed a little hotter than normal this year and there were many close races that came down to the wire. Many thanks to all of the events sponsors and especially Niner bikes and Bryson City Bicycles. Also a big thanks goes out to the NAS club (Nantahala Area SORBA) for their efforts with parking volunteers and prepping the trail. Top Male Solo 12 hour racer was Freddy Viera, top Female was Debbie Gillespie. In the team categories, Team Coming in Hot took the top 4 person slot and the overall, while team Crackrock was best of the 2 person teams. David Sagat was the winner in the 6 hour male class while Emily Parker took the top spot for the females. Congrats to all!.
McCarty & Moos rise to the top at the Hammerhead 100
2012 Hammer Head 100 miler- Florida Greenway Trails, Ocala, Fl 5/12/12: Big turnout for this fourth annual event as nearly 300 racers took to the Western Greenway trails. A new layout this year for the 25 mile loop that saw the racers crossing CR484 and taking on the new "Ern & Burn" section of the trail system. Despite the recent drought the course was in good shape thanks to some rain that fell on Monday and due to the many volunteers from Club OMBA that have been putting down pine straw on the trail surface. Many thanks to all of the sponsors and especially to the shops that helped out at the sag stops. Bob McCarty won the mens 100 mile solo category and Jennifer Moos topped the women's 100 mlier field.
